Goldwork Introduction

I first learned Goldwork on my Textiles degree, though to be honest we didn’t do an awful lot of it! After I graduated, hand embroidery was a hobby of mine, and this included Goldwork. The local vicar actually commissioned me to design and make a Goldwork decorated stole for him! It isn’t something I’ve done much of since then, so I’m no expert. However, it’s an interesting skill and – although it takes patience – it’s versatile and very effective. This is an introduction to Goldwork day – you will make a kindle case (or iPad case, though they’re also suitable for storing notebooks, letters, documents etc) and should also make (or almost make) a second piece of Goldwork, suitable for framing or perhaps using in another project.
