A note on accommodation

The prices quoted (see under “Holidays”) are for a week’s sewing course/use of the Textiles studio (with or without tuition, depending on what type of holiday you choose) and you can stay with me as my personal guest, in the accommodation described below, at no extra cost. This is our private home which I want to share with you, but our guests have their own completely private space to relax and enjoy, their own fully-equipped kitchen for cooking meals, dining table and chairs, sofa, armchairs, TV and DVD player, plus DVDs etc. There’s also a table and two chairs on the balcony for enjoying the views.

Accommodation:

Unfortunately, we currently only offer two en-suite bedrooms for our guests (but see more info further down)

Sashiko: this room is on the ground floor and connects to the studio

Trapunto: this room is on the first floor and is off a little private hallway, which is just off our guest sitting room/kitchen.

The guest sitting room/kitchen is solely for guest use when I’m hosting a holiday, and it has a little balcony which looks out over Tuscany and Lake Chiusi, and when it’s clear – often! – you can just make out the towers of Citta della Pieve (Umbria) and the Etruscan town of Chiusi (Tuscany).

More than two guests…

Three guests travelling together: The Trapunto bedroom can be made up with twin beds instead of a large double, so that 2 guests can be accommodated in this room if you don’t mind sharing. There is a 3rd shower-room (with basin, wc, bidet just like the other 2 bathrooms) just off the guest sitting room/kitchen, and this would be the private shower-room for that 3rd guest.

Four guests travelling together: Unfortunately, although the studio is large enough for 4 guests, the sleeping accommodation isn’t. If you are a group of 4 friends travelling together, we can help you find suitable accommodation locally, but you would need to hire a car in this instance – there isn’t adequate public transport and our (current) car is too small for 4 guests. In order to make this option both affordable for you, and feasible for us, there is a reduced price for these sewing holidays. The studio would be available from 10am until 5pm for 4 days, and I would still be available for tuition as/when needed according to the holiday chosen/description. You’d still have use of the guest sitting room/kitchen on those studio days, plus of course a shower-room for the wc and use of shower etc. The garden/pool and sitting room/kitchen/bathroom is available during the day (10am – 8pm) for the whole week of your holiday, not just on the studio days.

Gardens and pool:

Guests are also very welcome indeed to use our garden – in fact we expect it, because that’s where the swimming pool and garden house are located! We never use the swimming pool ourselves, so you wouldn’t be sharing it with us.

We’d also love you to use the pergola and the garden house, which has a kitchen and shower room, and which is located next to the pool. In fact, the garden room was new for the 2023 season, and is ideal for long afternoons relaxing – you can make a snack and sit in the sun or the shade, pour a glass of wine or make a cup of tea…I might actually set up a sewing machine table too.

Pets: We have two dogs – a Golden Retriever called Pippa and a Collie/Retriever/Setter cross called Theo – and a small calico cat called Lexie. They are not allowed in our guest accommodation when we have guests staying, but when it’s just myself and John they of course use the whole house, except guest bedrooms. So, if you are highly allergic to pets please do mention this when you enquire about a holiday. We always do our best to keep our dogs away from our guests when the guests are in the garden, but if dogs make you feel uncomfortable you might need to consider booking accommodation elsewhere (see below); sincere apologies.
