Log Cabin Lap Quilt £10/€10

This is what we make in my “Beginners’ Log Cabin Lap Quilt” workshops. The instructions are detailed with lots of clear photographs and descriptions of each step, from organising your fabrics to pressing the finished quilt. These are downloadable PDF instructions – there is no pattern. If you wish to purchase, either email me or you can buy from my Etsy shop: https://www.etsy.com/uk/listing/623106561/log-cabin-lap-quilt-instructions?ref=related-7

The lap quilt will measure approximately 99cm x 99cm.

To make the quilt you’ll need:
39 “Jelly Roll” strips
1.2m x 1.2m backing fabric
1m x 1m of wadding
An old sheet or scarp fabric to cut 16 squares 30cm x 30cm
Thread

You need to be able to sew with an accurate and consistent seam allowance. You will need to sew carefully and slowly, checking the size of your blocks (squares) as you progress. That said, I’ve taught many people – who don’t have a great deal of sewing experience – to make these quilts and all have been successful; you just need to take your time, though they don’t take as long as you’d expect considering the detail and amount of fabric!
