I’ve spent the last few weeks – most of this year, actually! – working on these embroidered pictures. I started off by doing an online art course, in January, which helped me loosen up my ideas a bit, and gave me more confidence with watercolour. These pictures contain watercolour painting, hand embroidery and machine embroidery, plus some fabric collage, and they’re inspired by the stunning landscape here on the Umbrian/Tuscan border. Next, I aim to make some very small ones, focussing on a specific texture in the landscape, and also some larger, more detailed ones. I have a sewing holiday at the moment though, so those ideas will be on hold for a little while…plus I have a beautiful Goldwork kit to make, and a silk shading one; back in January, I also decided this year was going to be about refreshing and building on my hand embroidery skills!
