Yesterday I ran my first “Rose Garden” lap quilt workshop. I designed it especially for (1) beginners and (2) people who wanted to make a lap quilt in a day. Now, I think I can say that it was successful in that t meets both criteria…..but unfortunately, not at the same time! By this I mean that the quilt IS suitable for beginners – for people relatively new to sewing and who haven’t done any patchwork before. You just need to be able to cut and sew accurately, and to understand how important it is to press well. It’s also suitable for someone with experience of patchwork to make – from start to finish – in a day…but a long day, of maybe 8 hours. That includes, however, working out the colour combinations, which always takes time.
So, determined to create a w/shop for beginners to make a quilt in a day workshop (6 hours) I’m going to continue to try out different ideas!
I love the way the quilt above looks very different, and quite abstract. The photograph doesn’t do it justice – the fabrics are gorgeous and work beautifully together!
