It was a perfect winter’s morning – blue sky, cold but sunny – so we went up into the old town of Castiglione del Lago, for a coffee and a wander… Most of the little shops and bars had festive decorations and Christmas lights outside, and there was, unexpectedly, a large carousel on the main “square” outside the hospital. There was also a tall tree made entirely of Christmas lights, at the top of the steps leading to the old town, and looking out over the lake and the countryside.
