On Wednesday I met my new beginners – what a lovely group of people! It was so much fun, explaining the basics, helping them to set up their machines, showing them how to use the seam allowance guidelines… They each made a patchwork pincushion – and I was impressed with the accuracy of the pinning/stitching, and the way all the squares matched up – and a heart-shaped scented sachet. These are far more difficult that you’d expect – for one thing, they’re symmetrical… They also include two kinds of points, AND steep curves. All of my new “students” achieved great results, and showed creative flair, too, in their choice of ribbons/buttons etc for trimming them.
