I keep telling myself I’m going to plan some hand embroidery workshops/ projects, and it’s really good to finally be doing just that! I did the embroidery for this needle case last week, but only managed to find time to get into my studio to assemble it today. It’s for storing packets of needles rather than loose needles – although there IS a strip of felt for that – hence the two pockets. On the whole I prefer to keep needles in their packets because that way it’s easier to find what I’m looking for.

It’s a hand embroidery stitch sampler, really, because of the range of different stitches it includes. It’s very different from the type of thing I normally make, but I’m quite pleased with the results. If the scissor holder part looks as if it was added as an afterthought, that’s because it was! Once I’d finished the whole thing, I thought it would have been a useful addition, so hand-stitched in place – awkward at that stage!
