Here’s a pincushion and some of the cushion covers that were made in my new beginners’ sewing group which started last Wednesday, and which I’ve not yet had chance to post. (I still need to find my 50cm x 50cm cushion pad – the one used for the photos is a little small). Both are items great first projects – with the emphasis on accuracy of stitching, machine control and the importance of pressing – and the results were impressive! Next week’s skill is machine appliqué, which is a great way of learning to use the length/width settings on the sewing machine and gaining better machine control.
