Today was the first of the “Advanced Beginners” workshops… I introduced commercial patterns, with an explanation of what you find both on and inside the envelope, how to cut out the paper patterns themselves, how to lay out the pattern on the fabric, notches, tailor tacks etc… These will be made in the next session. After that, there was a simple drawstring bag project, using many of the skills learned in the Beginners course. The idea was to follow my written instructions and to make up the bag with very little help from me; the results are brilliant!
