These are difficult times for everyone and we all deal with stress and anxiety in different ways. Mindful sewing is a good way to relax – you can lose yourself in the rhythm of the stitches, the repetitiveness… Some projects demand total focus and a high level of skill and are not necessarily good for mindfulness. Other projects can help because they are simple to do and allow you to just concentrate on the stitching, to be “in the moment”, are they not too difficult. This is one of those projects, I think… You can probably tackle it even if you find you can’t focus on something more taxing. It doesn’t require a lot of materials – mainly fabric scraps. If you don’t have any wadding you can use an old blanket or old clothing as a base instead.
The project appeared in an abridged format in April’s edition of “Be Creative with Workbox” magazine.
