The Intermediate workshop this week was about luxury fabrics – in particular, pile fabrics such as velvet and corduroy. We looked at samples of various fabrics and compared the way they looked and felt. Then I showed how to do an overlaid seam, and explained when it might be a useful seam to use. Practical work included two gorgeous luxury fabric collars, both fastened wit really unusual buttons, three lovely velvet gift bags, lined with shot satin and silk dupion, and two very cosy, soft eternity scarves made out of fleece fabric and a sort jersey dogtooth.
