This week Irina, from Spain, has been staying with us to learn a range of different sewing skills. She has made range of products – pincushion, scented sachet, tea cloth, patchwork cushion, pyjama bottoms… In doing so, the skills she has covered have included seam allowances, accuracy of cutting and sewing, appliqué, neatening raw edges, buttonholes and buttons, making a casing, turning a hem, creating pockets. I love the bird appliqué on the tea cloth, which is an abstract design that works really well. The design of the patchwork cushion works really well and the stitching is incredibly accurate!
