The Intermediate workshop 3 challenge is to use a combination of velvet and a silky fabric to make a small drawstring bag, and to use velvet, another fabric (my example included corduroy) and silky fabric again, to make a versatile “collar”, to wear with a jumper or with a coat instead of a scarf. Velvet is, of course, very hard to work with, and the two projects I made yesterday will allow me to teach about cutting (directional pile), and the specific sewing and pressing skills require with pile fabrics!
