So, the zips arrived and so I could finish my 2nd and 3rd Harris tweed bags. I love version 2 (main photo and below), which can be worn with navy flap over turquoise tweed or with tweed flap over navy cord… I like the silver zip, too, and the practical zipped pockets, inside and out. It’s still a bit complex, I think, for my Intermediate workshops, but they’re going to design and make their own versions, so the idea is that these bags can be adapted.
The 3rd version looks much better “in the flesh” than in the photo here (below) – I chose to use a chunky plastic (navy) zip instead of silver, so you can’t see it on the photo, which means the photo isn’t terribly interesting! I’m going to start selling these bags, I think – I’ve just ordered some red Harris tweed and some black corduroy.
I also made a kindle case, using the same fabrics. (The brown/jade one is the original, which I made earlier in the year). I intend to start selling Sewing Kits and I think this would make a great kit, though I’m not 100% sure about the Harris tweed – it’s very bulky for such a small item.
