I spent the day creating three different quilting samples. The first is a silk dupion drawstring bag with an Italian corded quilting decorative panel. I wanted to create a simple design for beginners, so chose slightly wavy lines approximately 5mm apart.
Then I made a quilted fabric “basket”; this type of quilting is often referred to as whole cloth or “English” quilting. Instead of creating the design myself, I decided to outline the existing pattern on the fabric, and added a few more contour lines too. It’s one I bought in the sale a couple of weeks ago, and is a “shot” taffeta (shot meaning it looks different colours in different directions because of the way it’s woven) with a chenille effect leaf design. The colours are unusual, and not to everyone’s taste, but I love them! I happened to have some mustard acetate lining fabric, so lined it in that.
Finally I made a small sample of Trapunto.
