Today I had 3 “beginners” making aprons and oven gloves. The aprons are fun – creative and with just enough skills to be challenging but still enjoyable… The oven gloves are….challenging! I know they’re hard – adding bias binding around the edges is a difficult task for someone who is reasonably new to sewing – and I almost too them off the schedule because of that. However, I really believe in pushing people to achieve what they think they can’t achieve, AND to show them that what might look like a simple task can have unexpected difficulties. It’s also the sort of task which makes the next thing you tackle seem relatively straightforward. The result of today’s workshop is two wonderful aprons and three oven gloves!
On a slightly different note… The Dachshund cushion covers were made by one of my Intermediate regulars – a set of 4 made as a Christmas present. Aren’t they adorable?!
