The purpose-built studio is accessed either from a staircase off the sitting room, or from the outside of the house – the house is built on a slope so the studio is on the ground floor at the back. It has wonderful views over the Umbrian and Tuscan countryside, including glimpses of Chiusi lake. It has individual workstations set up with sewing machines and lamps, two large cutting out tables, an overlocker station, ironing boards, bookcases etc. There’s a kitchenette for making drinks during the day, and a round table for tea breaks. It’s light and bright – a lovely space for working.
It is fully equipped with Janome sewing machines and an overlocker, plus of course irons/ironing boards. There are fabric shears, embroidery scissors and paper scissors, pins, tape measures, unpickers… pretty much everything you might need. There are also lots and lots of Textiles-related books which you are welcome to borrow/ to use while you’re here.
I usually ask you to provide your own fabrics – after all, it’s important you like what you make!
