I’ve always wanted to learn to paint with watercolours, so I’ve signed up for some watercolour painting workshops! My first lesson was last week – on my birthday, and I absolutely loved it. You might wonder why I’m posting about it on here – is it REALLY relevant to my website? Well, I think it is, because (1) I’m learning to paint so I can use painting techniques more in my free machine embroideries and (2) it’s a great way of learning how to be a better teacher! I’d forgotten how hard it is to learn a new creative skill – there are just so many things to remember, all at once…! I know it’s the same in Textiles, but of course the Textiles “rules” are so familiar to me, that it’s easy to forget that for a beginner, even the “just” instructions can be problematic…! So, Here are my 2 first pantings – the main photo is the second one, painted yesterday, and the one below is my first, painted last week, plus a little “tree experiment” we did!
