Over the last few days I’ve hosted a short sewing break, covering Free Machine Embroidery and Appliqué. The embroidery workshop also covers raw edge appliqué, so it’s a good way of covering similar but different skills. The embroidery workshops is all about being quite free with your work, “drawing” or “painting” with the needle and thread- and for people used to precision, it can be a bit daunting at first! Appliqué on the other hand requires careful planning if things are to fit together as you’d hoped. This stunning (reversible) tote bag is decorated with Appliqué stitched in the conventional way, with satin stitch. The caravan on the other hand is done using raw edge appliqué with the “Free Machine Embroidery” technique!
If you’re interested in a “Short Sewing Break” they include 3 nights accommodation, 2 days in the studio and cost €300.
