We went to Cortona, famous from Frances Mayes’ novel (and the film) “Under the scan Sun”. It’s often described as the jewel in Tuscany’s crown, and we’d certainly agree. It’s about 30 minutes away, and is so very familiar now, but we never take it for granted. The views from there are incredible, looking out over the Val di Chiana to Lake Trasimeno and beyond. The streets are full of interesting shops and cafes – we have various “favourites” depending on the season, the weather, and…just how we feel! However, the one we most often return to, summer and winter, is the Tuscher bar. I just love the opulent furnishings, the friendly staff, the ambience.
