I’m doing my winter clothes sewing this week, since it’s suddenly turned quite cold. I bought some gorgeous jumper knit from a shop between here and Perugia – it was the last 90cm on the roll and I’ve no idea what the fibre content is, but it’s really soft, warm and fuzzy…I’m thinking there’s some mohair in there! I made a boxy, square-cut loose fit sleeveless jumper to wear with long-sleeved vests – I’ve been thinking about zero waste designs for ages but it’s finding the right fabric. With the remaining fabric, I made matching arm-warmers, to turn it into a “normal” jumper when I’m feeling cold! That might sound odd, but I’ve been wearing my running arm-warmers for a couple of weeks now, because at this time of year it can still be very warm in the sunshine, and very cold in the shadows – so just putting on/taking off a couple of arm-warmers is much easier than carrying a jacket, when the temperature is so variable. The other day I made a pair out of an old cardigan – plus I made a close-fitting snood to match! – which gave me the idea of making a pair to go with this sleeveless jumper. Apologies for the not-so-great photos – it’s very windy here today……. and snug-fit sleeves always look odd without arms inside! One photo shows it worn with a long-sleeved vest, the other wit the arm-warmers.
