This review is from Agnes, who accompanied one of my guests on a sewing holiday.
I do not sew, but this did not stop me booking a sewing holiday with Textile Holidays Italy, in Umbria, when the opportunity presented itself in the October half term. I love Italy and I loved staying with Bronwen and John at their lovely home near Castiglione del Lago on the border with Tuscany. They were delightful hosts and could not have been more welcoming and helpful.
I did not participate in the sewing classes, but while they were in progress in the mornings, I would have coffee on the terrace overlooking Lake Chiusi, then sit by the swimming pool in the sun, reading, in the company of two gorgeous Labradors, Theo and Pippa. After lunch our hosts would take us sightseeing. Castiglione del Lago, overlooking Lake Trasimeno, was a 15 minute drive away and it was lovely to visit on market day. After the shopping it was good to have lunch and coffee in the piazza. We also enjoyed coffee and drinks by Lake Trasimeno. Cortona was a delight to visit as was Pienza with its wonderful views and Montepulciano. As a non sewing guest, I think the right balance was struck between the sewing classes and free time to explore the nearby places of interest. Simply relaxing in the sun and eating pasta and Italian ice-cream while absorbing all the colour and culture of Italy made for a wonderful holiday.”
