This week we’ve had a lady called Hazel Gibbs staying with us… She makes beautiful fabric covered boxes, among other things, and here is a link to her shop:

She booked onto the Creative Textiles holiday and has been learning different skills each day. Her first day covered appliqué and she made a lovely linen tote bag which was lined with co-ordinating fabric.
On Wednesday we covered three types of quilting – English, Trapunto and Italian – and she made a gorgeous eye mask and matching pouch.
Thursday was Free Machine embroidery day, and Hazel produced a lovely stylised cat and a floral border using frayed edge appliqué and stitching.
On Friday it was tucking – luckily Hazel is incredibly accurate and so was able to produce an exquisite cushion, using some beautiful silk fabrics (see main photo). Saturday and Sunday morning covered patchwork and she produced a very traditional cushion cover made out of triangles and a lovely, fun doorstop using Log Cabin patchwork.
