Today was fun! I had one lady return for the morning to finish a Log Cabin lap quilt, started earlier in the year. It’s gorgeous – beautiful, rich colours (Moda, Madame Rouge) – and very well-made indeed. The backing fabric really pulls everything together, too! Another lady – here for a week of patchwork for complete beginners – started a Log Cabin throw, spending the first hour or so sorting out the jelly roll/fabric strips into groups according to colours; this can be quite challenging! Once that was done, she planned the order of the strips, careful to achieve a good balance of dark/light on each of the squares. So hard, she has made 4 squares (“blocks”) and has another 12 to complete before she is ready to put the quilt together.
