I’ve just realised I didn’t share this fantastic make-up brush roll/make-up bag, made by a very talented lady who came on holiday here in June… It was at the end of a busy week – busy for her because she made so many different things, and busy for me because I had had two other lovely ladies here learning dressmaking!
On the Saturday, there was just one person here and she had asked if I could help her design and make a make-up brush/make-up roll. They’re not quite as easy as you might expect, but the results were fantastic! We used paper modelling to come up with the right size/proportions, adding ribbon to work out where to stitch the compartments. I went through the various designing stages, explaining about the various things you need to consider including not just the appearance and the function, but also planning the order in which products are made.
In the afternoon we both made a prototype – she very generously gave me some of her beautiful fabrics to use! I’ve called the design “Ruby” – because that is her name – and hopefully after the summer I’ll be selling the pattern for making it.
