Yes, you did read “Cognac”, and no, as far as I’m aware Cognac has nothing to do with Textiles….. However, Cognac IS a lovely town about 45 minutes from here, and we like to go there for lunch, to look in the shops, to walk along the river… Finally, today, we went to visit Hennessy – we have family from the UK staying this week, and when you have family staying you do the tourist things, don’t you?! I’m so glad we did, because we’ve meant to do a tour for ages, it’s just that we never prioritise it.
We took their “Classic” tour, for €20. It lasted 90 minutes and was fascinating – and VERY cold! – and ended with a tasting of 3 Cognacs and a Cognac Cocktail. It was fascinating, really, and incredible to see the barrels that had been there for decades. I’d thoroughly recommend it for visitors to our area.
