I’ve had a few self-indulgent days this week, sewing things for myself… Even though sewing is my job, I still enjoy switching off from thinking about everything, and losing myself in some sewing! I’ve made a few things in the last few days, with fabrics I’ve bought at bargain prices over recent months. I love the challenge of making something out of a nice fabric, but not necessarily one you’d choose of you had 100s to choose from…
The first thing I designed and made was this jacket-top… I made a heavier weight version a few months ago – they’re ideal to wear when sewing on a cold day! Knitwear tends to pick up far too many bits of lint and thread, but suiting – which this is made from – doesn’t, and even if it does, a brisk shake and it’s clear again! It’s my favourite “swing” shape, which is so comfortable to wear, has a practical pocket and full length zip, so it can be worn as a jacket or an overtop.
